WIP- Christmas gifts!

So as I told you last post, I just finished my exams, and now i have a whole chunk of free time, yay! I thought i'd have to do something productive on break so this year, I've decided to make all of my gifts. yup.
Christmas always creeps up on me, so usually I'm one of those people you see rushing through shopping malls -_- but this year, I'm saving myself. Although, I'm not sure if I'm going to meet my deadlines for all the gifts...........

This is something I'm in the process of making, my friend is a MASSIVE harry potter fan, so I went out to the craft store and i saw some LOVELY maroon yarn, (that was on sale no less) it was fate. The scarf had to be gryffindor. Oh, and I bought 8 balls. yeah. 8 balls for a scarf. crazy, right? But do you know want to know my 'logical' explanation? Well, first off, the scarf was going to have to be folded over and sewed up because the one in the movies never shows reverse stockinette. So i thought, "It only takes like, three balls to knit a normal scarf......SO THEN I HAVE TO DOUBLE IT!" and being the paranoid knitter i am, i grabbed an extra two balls 'just in case.' the scarf is turning out lovely, and did i mention the yarn is made up of 40% wool, 30% bamboo and 20% silk?! It's so lovely, and only cost $2 a ball! So, if i do have some left over (and i will.) I'll be happy to make it into a hat, or gloves or socks..................

okay, so i know that i haven't been posting for awhile but I've had exams and they were awful. Between studying and stressing I haven't been able to knit anything, and Christmas is next month so I'm stressing about that! Anyway, to celebrate the end of exams I went out to lunch with the fam bam (does anyone say that anymore....?) and here's what i wore, everything has been thrifted  partly due to my budget and partly because I don't really like shopping centers :)

i'm still here :)

hi everybody, i'm back from my unintentional hiatus..... so, what have i done during the past month? well, i got sick, and that was terrible, i finished two scarves, went trawling through the thrift stores and baked! so just he usual, lol. I'm always told by friends to go to thrift stores for yarn, because, i quote "THEY HAVE THE BEST YARN EVER, AND IT'S SO CHEAP!" and a couple of days ago, i found these:

this was $5. okay, so the color may be oaihroeihrtoiwsht but it's 100% cotton! yay! oh, this half-knitted piece came with it, plus a knitting needle and a pattern.....
and the next was....im not sure, because it just came in a plastic bag....

but  each bag was $6! 

so that's enough yarn bragging for now, i hope you all have a wonderful end to your week,

I'm alive!

Hello! yes, i am alive, I'm just a horrible blogger and can't keep up to date with things. anyway, this is going to be a short post :) I've just been knitting an easy-garter stitch scarf, it's for a friend. I got lazy and didn't want to follow a pattern, and i want it to have no mistakes in it, when i knit for friends i suddenly turn into a perfectionist -_-so this is my work from only one night:

sorry, i had to brag about it :P (I'm not really a quick knitter, but i used huge needles and thick yarn for this project!)  the yarn is a 100% wool that i found at a market for $8 (!) it's so lovely and the photo kind of messes up the color, it looks better in real life, promise. 
I'll try to start blogging more often, but I'm just drowning in work :(

cookies + new projects

hello again, me again. Nothing much has happened since two days ago....i did manage to freeze my ice cream and eat it for breakfeast, (it was yum!) so as promised, these are the photos:

ignore the brown flakes, that just some chocolate :P i also did some more baking today because i wanted to test out my piping skills......this was the icing:

Okay, so besides op-shopping and knitting, I love cooking (yay for feminism? lol). Baking actually, i never usually make savory dishes.....Anyway, yesterday i was on eyeittryit.com (i love all of her recipes! you should check them out!) i saw this: http://eyeitryit.com/2011/08/02/coconut-spinach-ice-cream/
It looked so good and it was so easy to make! (despite the fact that i LOVE baking, i fail in the kitchen.) but i had to subsitute a couple of things, instead of bananas i used half and apple (banana's are usually abundant in our household, but today I couldn't find any!) and I ran out of vanilla so i just winged it >.< Anyway, seeing as i just made this 15 minutes ago, here's a photo of what it currently looks like:

okay, so i admit it looks kinda disgusting, but its tastes so yummy! i have to pop it in the fridge for a night and i'm gonna eat it tomorrow for breakfast :) i'll try to remember to take some photos of when its frozen.

so do you remember that bag I was telling you about a couple of weeks back? Well, I've finished it, and i hate it. The color is just......okay, to clarify, I did not actually buy this yarn, it was given to me by a friend. It feels like a cotton blend and i'm in love with those types of yarns, so when i started the project, i shrugged and said "if it isn't pretty, at least it feels nice, right?" in short: i won't be wearing this bag out much.

yeah, the color is pretty blinding, so its currently residing on my bed post.
